ateism ca rol si manifestare (in engleza)

 Dan Ciobanu

Atheism is not a story, is just a simple fact. We don't need to tell eachother fairly ridiculous stories to convince eachother to be good. Atheism is just a response to those uninvitedly forcing their beliefs on us.

  • Alexandru Popescu Dan Ciobanu I agree. Atheism is a historical fact. It's the consequence of almost 2000 years of religious hypocrisy and violence.
So I respect atheism and its pioneers - intelligent, honest and brave spirits.
But today's average atheists, those who don't belive in any god because they can't see him, they share very less with the pioneers of atheism, especially in terms of intelligence.
I think this category is in decline, in favour of agnostics, who admit that our brains might not be sufficient to fully understand the reality and discuss about absolute beings.
But there's still plenty of people who say "I belive in science" or "Nobody saw a divinity, therefore they don't exist".
These dudes might still carry on the fight for the independence from religion and freedom of thought initiated in the Age of Enlightenment (which, by the way, was 400 years ago, so maybe it would be time to think about moving forward), but probably, at least some of them, are choosing the atheist faith because they're afraid of light.
But this doesn't mean they're not good people.
I find atheists are generally better people. Or at least don't try to convert you while having a normal conversation

I am just stating that this sophism is not logical at its core. Hawkins is just playing with the dark/light dance of life as being made of equal entities and just existing with their known/unknown yet features, refusing to load them with any spiritual meaning, as opposed to the fairly rudimentary concept of associations such as light=positive, dark=negative still promoted by non-atheists. In its absolute form, this dichotomy would mean that, on a symbolic form, we go to bed in the realm of the night (evil) and we survive the night to turn back into the realm of the light (good), which is actually not validated by modern religions at all (which is a progress towards logic and commonsense). And further to that, if you dwell at least on common sense, logic and you eliminate the "stories" that are loading plain, empirical facts, with deity (a complete useless presence in the real world, as its actions are not common occurence in day to day life of humans). Deity is beyond our "senses", cannot interfere in our day to day world directly and in a common circumstance, leaving room only for "miracles" which seem to be the only rare occasion when deity makes its presence felt, distorting reality, but in a faint manner, not enough to change towards greater good humanity as a whole. It is only changing by miracle this directed strictly towards a single person/community at best the status of that person (ill towards health, even death towards life) as a mean to the same futile end: to change the "story", to empower it. But, in the end, that almighty "story" does not put food on the table, does not quench even a mild thirst for water, it will never give you an ounce of certainty to have a ferm footing on heading forward within the reality of life, it will only light up as a faint, distant illusion of a carrot hung in front of a mule to keep it moving forward, but, alas, will keep its place out of reach precicely through the movement of the mule itself. Thus, I see deity by its own definition as useless while I am alive. If I were to discover anything more than this after my death, I will adapt to the new rules I will find useful and safe for me there in that place which is completely segregated from this world.
